Get Involved: Become a Member or Volunteer in Saint-Vulbas
Every initiative led by PATRIMOINE, CULTURE ET TRADITIONS relies on the passionate civic dedication of our members and volunteers. Discover how you can share your skills, learn ancestral crafts, and take an active role in preserving our regional agrarian roots.
Democratic Membership: Rights and Responsibilities
Joining PATRIMOINE, CULTURE ET TRADITIONS as an enrolled member is a direct act of civic support for local culture and community memory. Under our French Law of July 1, 1901 statutes, membership is open to any individual regardless of background who shares our commitment to public heritage preservation.
Unlike commercial subscriptions or corporate memberships, becoming a member of our association confers genuine democratic sovereignty:
- Direct Voting Power in General Assemblies: Every active member holds one equal vote in our annual ordinary and extraordinary General Assemblies. Members vote to approve the financial accounts, ratify annual budgets, formulate operational priorities, and elect representatives to the Board of Directors.
- Right to Stand for Governance: Any member in good standing who has been enrolled for at least six months is eligible to stand for election to the Board of Directors, ensuring that the association’s leadership remains representative of the community.
- Complete Information Rights: Members receive quarterly informational bulletins, have advance access to internal historical research drafts, and can consult the association's administrative ledgers upon request.
Annual Membership Dues & Reinvestment Guarantee
To maintain financial accessibility for all residents, our General Assembly sets annual statutory dues at modest, non-prohibitive rates:
- Individual Member Contribution: €20 per civic year (grants individual voting rights and full workshop access).
- Family / Household Contribution: €30 per civic year (covers parents and dependent youth with dual voting representation).
- Benefactor / Supporting Member: Voluntary contributions above statutory rates, eligible for tax receipts under French non-profit patronage laws.
We reaffirm our statutory pledge: All membership fees and dues are fully reinvested in the association's public interest missions. Not a single cent is diverted to private benefit, executive compensation, or commercial gain.
Volunteer Framework: Open Roles for All Talents and Schedules
You do not need to be a mechanical engineer or a professional historian to volunteer with us! Our association flourishes because of the diverse talents brought by citizens of all generations. Whether you can offer two hours per month or three afternoons per week, there is an enriching role for you:
1. Mechanical Restoration & Woodcraft
Work alongside experienced mechanics in our Marcillieux technical shop. Learn how to clean and stabilize antique iron, overhaul stationary engines, restore wooden wheel spokes, and safely operate belt-driven machinery.
2. Museum Docent & Visitor Welcome
Welcome visiting families, cycling tourists, and international travelers to the Marcillieux Rural Museum. Guide visitors through the exhibits, share anecdotes about traditional rural life, and help manage public open days.
3. Pedagogical Workshop Assistant
Assist our educational leaders during school group mornings. Help children grind flour on hand mills, oversee rope-making activities, and ensure a warm, engaging learning environment for youth.
4. Archival Research & Oral History
Conduct historical research using regional land registries, transcribe audio interviews with senior village residents, and assist with high-resolution digital scanning of historical photographs.
Volunteer Onboarding, Mentorship & Safety Assurance
We take the integration of new volunteers seriously. When you join our benevolent team, you benefit from a structured, supportive onboarding journey:
1. Welcome Orientation & Safety Walkthrough: Every new volunteer completes an initial orientation session with an experienced board member, reviewing workshop safety zones, emergency equipment, and tool usage rules.
2. One-on-One Mentorship: You are paired with a seasoned volunteer who guides you through initial projects, answering questions and teaching traditional techniques at your own pace.
3. Full Insurance Protection: Every registered volunteer is immediately covered under the association’s comprehensive institutional civil liability and personal accident insurance policy throughout all activities.
